As You Wish: England Day 5

This morning we attended church with the Barnsley Branch. What a great morning meeting lots of new wonderful people.  There was no pianist, but BOY did they sing out!  It was quite refreshing.

Afterwards, we headed out for a walk around Sherwood Forest - home of Robin Hood.

Major Oak - One of the oldest trees over 1150 years old.

It is said that Robin Hood and his Merry Men hid in this tree.

It was a lovely walk through the forest.

Next we drove to Castleton of Cheshire County (name sake of Alice and Wonderland's Cheshire Cat). While there in the Peak District, we hiked up to the As You Wish Hill from The Princess Bride.

We hiked to the top.
It was raining hard and incredibly windy.
I thought it was going to blow us down the hill.

It was also extremely steep.

On the other side is the old old Peveril Castle of Castleton.
I decided to roll down the hill.
(For safety reasons I started very close to the bottom.)

AS YOU WISH!!!

I was SOAKING wet.

But it was awesome.

A view of the path we hiked in on - another shot used for The Princess Bride.

We saw this house on our way out. Brett wanted to take this for his dad, Douglas Mecham.  We found your home!!

It was a rainy but wonderful trip.
